    Department profile

    The Commerce education cover diversified fields of education and research in different aspects of business environment. Commerce opens a lot of opportunities to students in the field of Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship Development, Commercial, Business Law and also pursue course in Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accountancy and Company Secretaryship. In order to attain economic growth of a country, there is a need for Professionals, Economists and Accountants with advanced practical knowledge to enable to evaluate and analyze the complexities of the large scale business and other Financial institutions. Here the commercial experts who have trained in different aspects of business environment have to play a very important role. The relevance of commerce education has become more imperative and has been marked change in the way commerce and management education is perceived in India. Keeping in view the above facts and demand of the time and prospects of Commerce Education, the Department of Commerce has been foresightedly designing and offering various programmes to meet the growing needs of the business society.

    The department has on roll 31 faculty members with 15 having doctoral degree and the rest pursuing their doctoral research. Special doctoral Programme is offered to Women Chartered Accountant across the nation and we also signed MoU with ICAI, India. The Commerce Department strives to ensure effective understanding and development of various skills through innovative teaching methods, interactive and participative learning and ensuring high quality of research. The students have been gainfully employed in various capacities in Companies, Banks, Insurance, Financial and Academic Institutions and Government Departments. Several Research Projects have been carried out with the financial assistance from various funding agencies like UGC, ICSSR.

    GENESIS AND GROWTH

    • 1972 -Inception of the Department of Commerce to offer the Undergraduate programme B.Com Triple major combinations.
    • 1988 - Introduction of double major combinations in B.Com – Commerce & management and Accountancy
    • 1994 - Introduction of Undergraduate Programme B.Com. Professional Accounting
    • 2001 - Introduction of Master’s Programme (M.Com) MFC Nomenclature changed to M.Com (Finance)
    • 2008 - Introduction of Undergraduate Programme B.Com Computer Applications
    • 2001 - Introduction of Master's Programme - M.Com
    • 2006 - Introduction of M. Phil
    • 2006 - Recognition for the Ph.D programme

    • All class rooms with Wall mounted LCD
    Computer Laboratory Facilities: The Commerce laboratory is well equipped with HP server and latest configured computers to support effective techno based environment, the laboratory is equipped with wall-mounted LCD Projector, Scanner and Printers with necessary softwares and connected with internet.


    Our classrooms are well ventilated with comfortable seating arrangements. Each classroom is well equipped with Black Boards, Interactive Boards, wall-mounted LCD Projectors and if provide smart learning atmosphere to the students.


    The smart classrooms are equipped with visualizer for displaying an object to a large number of students. The device allows the faculty to write on a sheet of paper and to display a 2D or 3D object.


    One classroom is equipped with the core technology components of K-yan. The K-yan combines a hi-tech projector with a PC, a DVD writer, a TV tuner, in-built speakers, a 500 GB HDD, 3G-Internet, a wireless keyboard and a mouse - all in one box to support Learning Management System (LMS) which provides faculty and students with tools to sustain teaching and learning activities.
