Campus Development with adequate buildings, infrastructure to support Teaching-Learning process and for ICT enhancement has been one of the prime focus of the strategic plan amidst others. One such initiative under Campus Development was Solar Power Grid for supply of 100KWP in the campus.

The strategic plan to install solar power grid progressed systematically with an initial discussion with a committee constituted for the same. The committee constituted experts from outside and technical team within campus along with officials. The committee suggested the technical team scrutinize the specifications for the solar power grid.

The technical team along institute engineers visited Bannariamman Institute of Technology to learn about their solar power grid installation and the team submitted their report of their visit. The technical team along with institute engineers submitted the technical description for supply, installation and commissioning of 100kwp Solar Power Grid which was scrutinized by the 'Infrastructure and Asset Creation' committee. Based on the recommendations of the above committee, Expression of Interest was called for.

Later, the EOI received from suppliers were shortlisted based on eligibility and the shortlisted suppliers were asked to submit the techno-commercial bids. The committee along with technical team scrutinized the techno-commercial bids received and had series of presentations and discussions with them and the vendor was selected based on their expertise, quote and credibility.

Accordingly, work was initiated, closely monitored and the solar plant grid has been successfully commissioned since 2015 and the solar power generated is being utilized to meet the energy requirements in campus.
