  Women’s Studies Centre organizes outreach programmes for the benefit of women, children and adolescents.

   1. Gender sensitization for Adolescents

      School based programmes were organized on “Gender sensitization for adolescent boys and girls.

  • A Special lecture at Sankara Polytechnic College, Saravanampatti on ‘Problems Faced by Adolescent Girls in Family and Society’. 80 (boys & girls) benefitted by the lecture.

  • Women’s Studies Centre, worked with the students of Master of Social Work to conduct Health Awareness and Health Education Programme for around 300 adolescent boys and girls in government schools of Coimbatore District for a period of ten days in the month of August 2015.

  2. Health and Nutrition Awareness Programmes

     Women's Studies Centre organised a two days workshop on Health and Nutrition Education for the            Adolescent Boys and Girls from 17.8.2016 to 18.8.2016 at Government Tribal Residential School,         Mutathuvaiyal. This programme was organized in collaboration with Tulsi Rural Development Trust.         Topics covered were:

      (i) Growth and Development of the adolescent boys and girls, 

      (ii) Activities involved for the empowerment of Adolescent boys and girls,

      (iii) Mental and Physical issues of the adolescent boys and girls and 

      (iv) Nutritious Foods for the Adolescent boys and Girls. Forty adolescents participated in this awareness             programme

   3. Health  programmes

   Women's Studies Centre organizes a series of Health Programmes in the field.

  •  (a) save the heart 

  • (b) world breast feeding week celebrations every year 

  • (c) cancer awareness 

  • (d) world mental health day were organized.   

  • Medical camps were organized in the rural areas of Coimbatore.

   5. Phone-in-Programme

  • Phone in Programmes were organized in   Collaboration with the Tulsi Trust, Coimbatore and             M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation, Dindigul. Counseling was given to Rural Women on their problems through telephone.  Twenty five different concerns were answered through this programme.
