It is easy to make Sports and physical fitness a regular part of the undergraduate experience at Avinashilingam Institute. We motivate our students to involve in some kind of sports-and nearly everyone joins in cheering on their friends and classmates.

Whether a recreational novice or an accomplished varsity athlete, the main objective as Avinashilingam students is stay active, engaged, and healthy. Our facilities include indoor and outdoor halls, strength and conditioning facilities, courts and fields of major sports.

Recreational fitness

For a relaxed and independent fitness experience, we offer a variety of recreational facilities where you can practice, play, and participate on your own schedule. We provide equipment for solo exercise as well as group classes. A sampling of fitness classes includes muscle conditioning, aerobics and yoga.

Intramural sport

Students compete for fun in intramural sports. Teams are organized by entryway and by House. In addition to regular team sports, intramurals include fun special events, such as traditional sports and cultural events.

Club sports

You are also welcome to join or start your own club sport. With less formality than varsity competitions, club sports are a great way to compete and meet new friends in a more relaxed, welcoming environment.

Varsity sports

As a key and fundamental element of university life, it brings together people from all departments. Not only fitness, health, and well-being are in the focus but also the chance to make social contacts and promote integration in an informal university atmosphere. A fit and healthy individual leads to an equally healthy society and strong nation. A sport is an extremely important component for the overall development of our nation.

Avinashilingam Varsity teams include basketball, Handball, volleyball, football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Hockey, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Chess, Yoga, Mallakhamb, Silambam, Taekwondo, fencing, Judo, cross-country and track and  field.
