Values are beliefs about what is right and what is wrong and what is important in life. It is like the rails which keep the train on track. Without values, life will be chaotic. VBE has now been made an integral part of the New Education Policy 2020. The 5 universal values specifically mentioned in NEP 2020, are “Truth, Peace, Non-violence, Love, Righteous conduct”. Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore has instituted “SJS (Swami Jagadatmananda Saraswati) CENTRE FOR VALUE BASED EDUCATION CHAIR” in collaboration with Lalithambigai Trust, Coimbatore. MoU was signed on 19.04.2021.

Objective

The broad objective of the chair will be to design and conduct quality values education projects that equip students with:

• the knowledge, values and attitudes that enable them to be tolerant, respectful and socially inclusive members of society
• skills, abilities and resilience for social, emotional and physical well being as confident, engaged learners.
