Department Of Home Science Extension Education

Objectives of the Courses are to Help Students: To
  • Get sensitized on the nature, infrastructure and issues of the society and equip them with skills on working with the community and to disseminate information to the varied stakeholders in the rural and urban setting.
  • Undertake research to reorient the government programmes and policies on community development and social welfare.
  • Revisit the issues and challenges of the community for strategic development Assume leadership positions for attaining sustainable development.
Highlights of the Department of Home Science Extension Education
  • Initiated National Service Scheme -1970, NSS as curriculum component -1986 onwards
  • Community and Social Service for the Post Graduate students is a hall mark of the Institute being co- ordinated by the Department since 1971, is a curricular component
  • Women’s Studies Centre sponsored by UGC being co-ordinated by the Department since 2000
  • Gandhian Studies Centre is in operation from 2005 and co-ordinated by the Department
  • Training and Orientation Centre (Empanelled Training Centre) was initiated by the Department.
  • The Lifelong Training Centre of the Department of Home Science Extension Education and the Career Guidance and Placement Cell is jointly conducting Bosch/Bridge employability training program.
